THE SENIOR SCENE; a collaboration with Community Education

Opportunities designed for senior citizens (But ALL adults are welcome!)

The majority of the classes & activities are in the Chatfield Art Center Studio – located on the second floor.  Enter through Door 4 (across from the park).  An elevator is located at the end of the hall – to the right.

BOARD GAMES AND MORE    Wednesdays, Feb.-Apr. 2-4 pm     Center for the Arts Studio

Enjoy an afternoon of games and conversations.   Board games and cards will be available to use.   Connect with others who share your love of games, laugh, play, and maybe meet some new friends.  Do not need to register in advance.

LET’S TALK  (No Registration Required) 10:30-11:30 Free, Center for the Arts Studio

Join other friends, new and old, for a cup of coffee (hot chocolate or tea) and a conversation.   Find others who share your interests.   Learn about one another.  Monthly topics will be provided to jump start the conversations

Thur., Feb. 12th – Movies!   The Oscars will be on soon.  Talk about nominees – current & past.  Check out movies to watch at home.

Thur., Mar. 12th – Pick a Table Topic:   Farming (past or present) or Gardening

Thur., Apr. 9th – Spring:   What do you enjoy the most?

Enjoy a creative morning.   Try your hand at making two beautiful spring greeting cards.  Kits will be available.   Additional cards will be available to color.

Brain Health, Aging, and Dementia Research

A three part series for those interested in learning more.

A team from the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center to learn about brain health, memory loss, and current research. There will be plenty of time for conversation and questions.

The following events and topics will be discussed.

Please attend the events that work best for you.

Session 1: Building a Better Brain, Angela Lunde, MA (2:00pm-4:00pm)

• Understanding memory as we age

• Reducing dementia risk

• Everyday strategies for optimizing memory

Session 2: When Does Forgetfulness Signal Dementia, Ryan Coburn, MD (2:00pm-4:00pm)

• Understanding normal aging

• Memory concerns - when to see your doctor & the value of early diagnosis

• Genetics, managing the disease, and new treatments

Session 3: Demystifying Aging & Dementia Research, Liz Boots, PhD, LP (2:00pm-4:00pm)

• Overview the types of research that are conducted at Mayo Clinic

• Understand what it means to participate in a research study

• What to consider when thinking about research participation

Hayden Ashworth grew up in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota.   Having a mom and dad that loved country artists such as Johnny Cash, George Strait, and Travis Tritt, he grew up to love that sound of a deep, rich, rhythmic voice, which influenced his sound and style.   In 2019, Hayden decided to dive further into his dream and pursue a career in music
