The Janzen Boys

  • 405 Main Street S Chatfield, MN, 55923 USA (map)

The Janzen Boys are a harmony-driven folk roots trio from Winnipeg, Manitoba, consisting of father John (JJ) on guitar along with Mick (mandolin) and Jonah (bass). Originally formed in 2012 with JJ and his sons after returning from growing up in Japan, they began as buskers in public spaces and quickly evolved into a beloved family band known for heartfelt originals, clever traditional covers, and tight, emotive three-part harmonies that moved Roots Music Canada to call them “the Wailin’ Jennys of male harmony trios,” saying “If you think dudes can’t move you with the beauty of their delicately intermingling voices, you need to hear the Janzen Boys sing ‘One for the Road.’”

Their live shows brim with warmth, energy, and humorous intergenerational banter, as the family poke fun at each other. With over 7,000 mailing list subscribers, 50,000+ social media followers, and more than 12,000 physical records sold, they've parlayed savvy digital marketing and relentless touring—supported by FACTOR Canada and Manitoba Film & Music—into sold-out venues far beyond their online reach. Their upcoming EP, The Great Unknown, produced by Murray Pulver (Crash Test Dummies) and Trey Mills (Forrest Blakk), blends originals, traditionals, and country-rockers, set for release in 2026. Authentic and entertaining, The Janzen Boys prove family harmony still moves audiences deeply.
